What the job offers

MTN Cameroon is recruiting a Senior Manager, Commercial Legal and CoSec, based in Douala. The post is full time and on-site. It is a senior leadership role in the Commercial Legal department: the person gives legal guidance to the business, leads a team of legal professionals and helps reduce legal risks.

The main tasks are:

• leading the Commercial Legal team and working with other departments;
• designing and updating standard contracts and checklists, in line with company policies and the law;
• drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements;
• monitoring the contract management system and making sure contracts are properly filed and archived;
• preparing and structuring commercial transactions to limit commercial risks;
• advising managers and staff, with research-based legal opinions;
• training non-legal staff on legal issues and compliance;
• managing relations with judicial and administrative authorities;
• leading key company projects linked to Group objectives;
• preparing and managing the legal budget.

Who can apply

• A bachelor's degree in law or a related field. A master's degree is preferred;
• at least 10 years of experience in a legal role, with a strong background in commercial law and contract management;
• proven leadership skills, and the ability to lead and mentor a legal team;
• very good knowledge of Cameroonian and international law, especially for the telecoms industry;
• strong negotiation and communication skills;
• legal research and drafting skills, and the ability to apply complex legal principles;
• project management skills and the ability to handle several projects at once;
• good organisation and time management;
• fluent English and French, written and spoken.
