What the job involves

MTN Uganda is looking for one Senior Analyst – Forensic Investigations in its Internal Audit team (job ID 7816, MTN Level 3). The job is full time and based in Kampala. You would report to the Senior Manager – Forensics. The contract type and salary are not stated.

The job is to investigate fraud and other internal wrongdoing by studying physical and digital evidence, then to recommend ways to close the gaps that were used. Your main tasks:

  • Collect and analyse financial records, digital data and transaction histories, and spot patterns and anomalies.
  • Investigate suspicious transactions and trace the flow of funds.
  • Interview staff, managers and third parties, and record their statements.
  • Collect and protect digital evidence, and respond to security breaches.
  • Write detailed reports and executive summaries, and give expert testimony in court when needed.
  • Work with lawyers and the police to prepare evidence for court cases.
  • Assess fraud risks, support the internal audit team and recommend stronger controls.
  • Track fraud incidents and weaknesses, and follow up on agreed management actions.
  • Run fraud awareness sessions for MTN Uganda staff (telecoms and fintech).
  • Keep information confidential and manage the team's administration and performance reports.

Who can apply

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as accounting or statistics.
  • A professional certification in forensics, fraud examination or information security (CFE, CHFI, GCFA, CISM, CISA, CEH) is expected.
  • At least 5 years' experience, including 3 years in the specialisation, in fraud detection, prevention and investigation.
  • Experience with digital forensics tools such as EnCase or FTK, and in occupational fraud investigations.
  • Technical experience in fintech and the mobile network (GSM) environment, and a good understanding of telecoms.
  • Skills: analysis, data mining, interviewing, report writing, risk assessment and internal control review.
