## What is the Globalink Research Award?

Mitacs, a Canadian research funding organisation, funds research stays between Canada and other countries. The trainee works under the joint supervision of a professor at their home institution and a professor at the host institution.

Funding is 6,000 dollars per research unit, which is one project of 12 to 24 weeks. A project of 24 to 48 weeks, or two projects of 12 to 24 weeks, receives 12,000 dollars. Amounts may change: check them on the official page.

## Who can apply

- Be a full-time final-year undergraduate (second year completed), graduate student or postdoctoral researcher at an eligible Canadian or international institution throughout the project;

- for postdoctoral researchers: have received the PhD less than five years ago;

- be 18 or older;

- not carry out the project in a country whose citizenship you hold, or at an institution where you have already completed a program;

- find your own home and host supervisors: Mitacs does not match them;

- meet the visa requirements of the destination country.

All disciplines are accepted.

## How to apply

1. Find your home and host supervisors;

2. contact the Mitacs advisor at the Canadian institution, who gives the link to the application portal;

3. complete the application: research proposal, pre-departure form and other portal fields;

4. have the Canadian institution sign the application.

Applications are accepted in French and English.

## Our advice

- Start by looking for a host professor: it is the longest step;

- prepare your research proposal and support letters several months in advance;

- check visa requirements early: Mitacs does not advise on immigration;

- do not travel before receiving the results letter and the award letter.

## Beware of scams

Apply only through the official Mitacs page and a Mitacs advisor. Never pay anyone, by Mobile Money or otherwise, who promises to "guarantee" your award, a supervisor or a visa.
