<h2><strong>OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST</strong></h2>
</div>

<p>Under the overall supervision of the Director, and the direct supervision of the Communication & Information sector (CI) Programme Specialist (PS), the Associate Project Officer shall support technical and coordination of project implementation activities under the CI portfolio. The CI Unit focuses on freedom of expression and safety of journalists, media development, media and information literacy and access to information among other themes<em>.</em>The incumbent shall work closely with other team members to bring high level expertise to projects undertaken by the unit whilst seeking synergies across activities and new opportunities for collaboration.</p>
<p>Among the different projects, the incumbent will be responsible for the Social Media 4 Peace project, which is supported by the European Union and is being implemented in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Indonesia and Kenya. The incumbent will be in charge of project implementation in Indonesia and will collaborate closely with colleagues from other offices to exchange best practices and lessons learned.  </p>

<p>MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p>
<ul>
<li>Contribute to the design, development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of project activities. </li>
<li>Assist in preparation of project work plans, budgets, and output indicators.   </li>
<li>Provide inputs for preparation of  periodic reports as required.</li>
<li>Monitor project progress, final reports and financial disbursements to ensure conformity to work plans and alignment to UNESCOs rules & regulations.</li>
<li>Conduct situational research and analysis; analyze/compile data for potential partnership opportunities. </li>
<li>Develop concept notes/proposals to support resource mobilization;  prepare publications, briefings, and other related documents.</li>
<li>Continuously collect, analyze and share data/studies concerning social media usage, dissemination of hate speech and /or disinformation, and freedom of expression in Indonesia.</li>
<li>Ensure the involvement and ownership of relevant partners and stakeholders in coordination and implementation of project national activities - notably the National authorities, relevant CSOs and INGOs, Social Media platforms representatives, etc.</li>
<li>Assist in organization and delivery of capacity building activities to enhance capabilities of stakeholders, researchers, network members, and colleagues.</li>
<li>Prepare public information document e.g., news items, infographics, audiovisual materials, etc.  for UNESCO website and social media channels in coordination with Public information unit.</li>
<li>Disseminate information on CI initiatives to ensure project visibility; extend, engage and reinforce networks, engage new and diverse stakeholders, and foster partnerships.</li>
<li>Supports unit in mainstreaming gender equality effectively throughout the project activities, reports, research, and analysis. </li>
<li>Support unit in arranging meetings/project events, minutes of meetings, monitors follow-up actions, etc.  </li>
<li>Draft memos, reports, and other project related correspondence.</li>
<li>Provide substantive logistical and administrative support to project procurement, consultations, technical groups/think tanks, meetings, Networks and Partnership initiatives, events, and missions.</li>
<li>Perform any other duties deemed necessary by immediate supervisor or the Director of UNESCO Jakarta Office</li>

<h2><strong>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS</strong></h2>
</div>
<div>
<p>Education:</p>
<p>Bachelor’s degree or higher in Journalism, Political Sciences, or related field.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Work Experience:</p>
<ul>
<li>Minimum 3 years’ experience with Master’s Degree or 5 years with Bachelor’s Degree in the fields indicated above. </li>
<li>Proven experience in Project design, development, and planning; budget formulation/development, project implementation, monitoring and evaluation.</li>
<li>Knowledge of media and social media landscape in Indonesia, and freedom of expression policy developments at national level, particularly, policies relating to online freedom of expression and the curbing of potential harmful content (disinformation, hate speech). </li>
<li>Ability to conduct research/analysis, draft and develop project proposals, monitoring/evaluation reports, and other related communication materials.</li>
<li>Experience working in multicultural environments and Knowledge of UNESCO’s work mandate is an added advantage.</li>
</ul>

<li>Strong research and analytical skills.  Ability to analyze complex issues and convey concise & clear accounts on project information. </li>
<li>Ability to draft documents in a clear and concise manner and manage sensitive information in a confidential manner.</li>
<li>Ability to prioritize and co-ordinate complex activities/assignments whilst making necessary adjustments as required;</li>
<li>High-level commitment and responsibility towards completing assignments efficiently, accurately, and promptly.   Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy of deliverables.</li>
<li>Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve organizational goals and ensure timely delivery of results.</li>
<li>Ability to work independently seeking guidance in exceptional circumstances only.</li>
