ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering form conflict, disasters and the impact of climate change. With headquarters in Rome, Italy, WFP has 20,000 staff worldwide and assisted 128 million people in 2021. The Washington Office (WAS), located in Washington, DC aims to mobilize resources from the US Government and private sector, and lead the processing of contributions. In 2021, WAS managed US$3.86 billion contribution, being 44 percent of global contributions to WFP. WAS will continue to be focused on optimizing resources and contribute significantly to meet the food needs of the most vulnerable around the world. WFP Washington staff liaise with USG partners, including the US Agency for International Development (USAID), US Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the US Department of State, in managing and processing bilateral grant contributions. The Washington Office (WAS), also serves as a key support and liaison office for all WFP leadership engagements with partners in the United States Government.
The changing partnership environment within which WAS works demands an agile, efficient, and accountable global office that optimizes the effectiveness of its response to best serve the organization and those in need. This is particularly imperative in the context of WFP’s growing engagement needs, growing levels of resources from the US Government to WFP, and the need to ensure WAS capacity to respond to increased demand commensurate with the increasing levels of funding effectively and efficiently.
JOB PURPOSE
Under the general supervision of the Deputy Director of the Washington Office, and technical supervision of TEC WFP Headquarter, the Senior IT Operations Associate will be responsible for delivering high quality technical support, system, and data maintenance to contribute to the successful and effective delivery of IT services. The selected incumbent will be in charge of managing the development and implementation of integrated IT systems and services, supporting the highest level of management, delivering trainings, liaising with external service providers and suppliers, while maintaining contact with the TEC Division in WFP Headquarters. The Senior IT Operations Associate must possess excellent analysis, communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide last minute resolutions and flexibility to work in tight deadlines.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area.
Language: Working knowledge (proficiency/FAO level C) of English.
Experience: Seven or more years of progressively responsible work experience in the area of Information Technology (including one year at the G6 level for internal candidates).
