What the job involves

Plan International Liberia is looking for a Business Development & Resource Acquisition Manager, based in Monrovia. The job is a full-time fixed-term contract. The contract length and salary are not stated. This is a global search, and a relocation package is available if needed.

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that works for children's rights and equality for girls. In this job you would sit on the Extended Country Leadership Team and lead the growth of the country's funding. Your main tasks:

  • Build and carry out the country's plan for raising funds, in line with programme needs and income targets.
  • Find and follow funding opportunities from institutional donors, foundations, National Organisations and companies.
  • Build relationships with donors, UN agencies, NGOs and partners, and map donors and funding trends.
  • Oversee concept notes and funding proposals that meet donor rules.
  • Negotiate donor agreements, with a focus on financial sustainability and cost recovery.
  • Be the main contact for donors, and oversee reporting and compliance on grants.
  • Give senior leaders regular updates and advice on the funding pipeline.

Who can apply

  • Significant experience in business development, grants, fundraising or resource mobilisation in international development or humanitarian work.
  • Good knowledge of the international funding scene, and a record of winning funds from institutional donors such as the EU, USAID, World Bank, Global Fund, AFD and UN agencies.
  • Experience writing successful proposals and managing donor relationships.
  • Strong skills in negotiation, influencing, analysis, planning and project management.
  • Experience in an international NGO or development organisation.

Documents required

The offer does not list the documents. Expect to upload at least a CV on the online form, and read the instructions on the portal carefully. Plan runs pre-employment checks and asks previous employers about any past misconduct findings, as part of its child safeguarding policy.
