role PURPOSE
Plan

Plan
international has opened an office in Somaliland and started programmes
that focus on child protection, education and youth economic
empowerment programming both humanitarian and development setting,
working with/through partners and providing technical support to INGOs,
Somaliland NGOs and the Government of Somaliland in Plan’s areas of
expertise
This role will be
responsible for strengthening the quality of Plan International’s child
protection in emergency and development programmes in
Somalia/Somaliland including child protection case management, system
strengthening, community-based child protection mechanisms and support
appropriate and safe alternative care arrangements for unaccompanied and
separated children, and ensuring their referral to other necessary
services in target locations.
The
position is expected to manage a CP project team within Plan and also
technically supports project focal point from the local implementing
partner and hence expected to possess extensive professional knowledge
and experience in project management and child protection and proven
track record in mentoring and developing project staff. The post holder
will play a key role in establishing and maintaining sound working
relationships and partnerships with local partner and government
counterpart and other civil society organizations.

The
CP Officer will be based at the Country Office and S/he will uphold
Plan's Core Values, promote mission and vision, programme principles
(transparency, gender equality and diversity) to enhance CP programmes,
and be committed to child protection and respect for human rights.
Reports to: Child Protection Specialist
Key relationships:
Internal: Plan International staff including; Head of Mission, PMs, TS, Finance, HR, and Regional MERL /Global Hub staff as appropriate
External: Project
partners, government line ministries, target beneficiaries and other
agencies and groups working in the child protection sector in Somaliland
Level of Contact with Children:
The
position will be based in the Country Office and frequent travel to the
Field Sites and the incumbent will give strategic direction on
programme level of contact with children will be occasional.
Physical Environment
This position is based in Hargeisa with frequent travel to field sites and partners’ offices in the country.
