What the job involves

MTN Group is looking for a Senior Manager – Transfer Pricing (job ID 5719, MTN Level 3H). Transfer pricing is the setting of prices for deals between companies of the same group in different countries, so that taxes are fair and legal. Your main tasks:

  • Help shape the Group's transfer pricing strategy and policies, and make sure they follow local tax laws.
  • Review cross-border transactions and advise on the right pricing methods.
  • Guide the preparation of transfer pricing documents (Master File, Local Files, Country-by-Country Reports).
  • Deal with tax authorities and handle tax audits and disputes.
  • Advise MTN's operating companies in different countries and train their tax teams.
  • Spot and manage tax risks, including on mergers and acquisitions.
  • Lead and coach team members, and manage automation projects.
  • Travel in the region and abroad may be required.

Who can apply

  • Tax or law qualification: H.Dip Tax or equivalent, or CA(SA), CIMA, B.Proc, BA LLB or equivalent.
  • Articles (traineeship) at a top-5 audit firm or at a law firm.
  • A Master's in Tax Law and an Advanced Diploma in Transfer Pricing are advantages.
  • 10 years of transfer pricing experience, with 5 years at management level.
  • Strong knowledge of international tax rules (OECD guidelines, BEPS).
  • Experience preparing and reviewing transfer pricing documents.
  • Good financial modelling and advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with tax audits and disputes (experience at a revenue authority is an advantage).
  • Telecoms experience is an advantage, but not essential.
